Feng Shui Desks – Keep Them Clear and Uncluttered
Decorating an office mostly revolves around placement of the desk. Good desk Feng Shui holds the same principles as decorating other rooms with Feng Shui. Looking at just Feng Shui desks in themselves, the bagua can be applied to the top of the desk. In Feng Shui, the bagua incorporates the nine areas of life, with the center being the health area. The upper left corner of the desk is the wealth area, the upper right corner of the deck is partnership, the lower right corner of the desk is helpful people and so on. Use the areas of the bagua on the desk to determine the best placement for things such as the phone, bills, etc. The phone should be placed on the lower right side of the desk as this calls in potential customers and sales. Family pictures can be on the left, towards the middle in the family area. In Feng Shui, symbols of money can be place in the upper left hand side of the desk or the wealth area. A red candle is good on the upper middle portion of the desk in the fame and reputation area of the desk.
Start with a clean slate on your desk, and read on. Some other good desk and Feng Shui office tips for decorating and bringing in money and clients are:
- Sit facing the desk and position the desk so that it is easy to see the door.
- Place the desk chair against a solid wall, and have a high back chair.
- Place a mountain or landscape picture on a wall behind the desk for support.
- Do not have a corner of a desk or cabinet stabbing in the back.
- Remove unorganized clutter from the desktop. Clutter is bad in Feng Shui.
- Remove paper trays from any area of the desk
- Tie three Chinese coins with red ribbon and place them throughout the office and on the desk.
- Do not place a trashcan underneath a desk as this metaphorically places things on the desk into the trashcan.
- Do not be tempted to have a business name placed on a doormat. Many people each day are stomping muddy feet on the business name.
- Remove all sharp objects from the desktop such as a cactus or plants with sharp leaves.
- Get rid of files that are not current and leave spaces in the filing cabinets. This ensures room for more business to come in.
- Choose desks and office furniture carefully. Choose a desk that is in direct scale to the size of the office. Bigger is not always better.
- A fax machine, and computer are good in the wealth area for more business.
- Place a dragon on the right hand side of the desk facing the window or door.
- Avoid putting pictures and art above your head; don't let the attention of your visitors be distracted from you.
- The lighting must be good. Research shows that people are much more motivated and healthier if they sit near windows.
Proper desk placement from a Feng Shui standpoint is important in any office setting from large to the smallest cubicle. The desk has a big influence on how the success of a business will grow and prosper so take the time to use a few Feng Shui decorating tips.
